Do people not understand that for an actor, something like last nights's IFC dinner is a professional event?

Let's put it this way - if Rob were a lawyer, an investment banker or an an adveritising executive would you expect him to bring Kristen to a client dinner? Because when you strip away the specifics of the industry, that's exactly what events like last night are.

For those who see a hidden agenga in his being there on his own, I would suggest that there's no "message" being sent here by Rob other than " I want to make the kind of movies that play at the NYFF" and "I am a more than half of a celebrity couple." (And perhaps a trace of "And please help me get rid of those women who camped out at MOMA".)

To interpret his being there for any other reasons is to continue to box him into into the very narrow image that he needs to move beyond in order to have a a successful and rewarding career for the long term.

He clearly understands that to do so he needs to seperate his professional and personal lives - so why can't his fans ?

And from that essential logic, is's equally reasonable to assume that that R/K realize what's going to happen the minute they show up at event together for the first time since last July. Let's put it this way - imagine that Romney and Obama held a dinner where they announced that they've decided to share the presidency for the next 4 years, and Rob and Kristen showed up there together. The headlines the next day would read "Robsten Reunion is Real." That's why the only sightings of them have been at private events/venues - not because Rob is trying to send anyone a message. And I think that is likely to remain the situation until after BD2 premiere difuses the "first time in public" frenzy.
