[im chinese and this is MY opinion on the channel]
if you recall early SJM variety shows, happy camp and bravely going forwards are both hosted by HunanTV. they are pretty good at variety shows, and i think it is fair to call them the best entertainment channel in china.
however, their dramas... well. many people think they are really crappy due to lack of originality or just cheesy and expected dialogue and plots, and i think that might be the majority. but considering the amount of people in china, even if most hate it, there is still quite a big number of people who like them. plus i guess ELF would watch it no matter what cuz siwons in it.
so yeah. the thing is this. there is a lot i stress A LOT of criticism surrounding hunanTV's dramas, but no one can actually deny hunanTV's popularity. so it really depends on how you are going to see this :|
